Managing Contract Milestones
Updated
by Peter Campbell
Once a Milestone has been created and assigned to a Contract record, you can manage the Milestone by selecting it and opening the Milestone details.
If all the necessary information was not added initially, this can be done from this page. Best practice would require values in every field, including Milestone Owner, Milestone's Type, Description, Value and "Does this milestone relate to a contract?". The due date can also be edited from within the Milestone if the automated due date value that was assigned is not accurate.
Once all the necessary information has been included, you can then begin to action the Milestone. At the top of the Milestone, there are different statuses that can be selected to update the progress of the Milestone. A standard Milestone should progress from Not Started to Underway and then to Completed, however if some complications arise, there are also options for On Hold and Cancelled.
When the Milestone is being actioned, the results should be added to the Outcome section at the top of the page in the Progress section.
Finally, once the Milestone has been completed, the completion date will automatically be populated and the Milestone requires no further action. It will still show in the Milestones tab of the supplier record to allow tracking and for other reporting purposes.
